The Femdom Fridays Mistresses worked hard all month to bring the party to you, with a lovely side of gender exploration and experimentation. For July 11th we got started with Deconstructing Gender, and then we explored the Zodiac Genders with Ms Meshelle on the 18th. And then we capped off a great month of Gender Play with a Needlessly Gendered Scavenger Hunt for July 25th! If you missed it, that’s a shame, it was a lot of fun.

Gender July Re-Cap

If you haven’t taken the time to contemplate for yourself your own gender and gender expression, you should! Even if you are a cis gendered person, perfectly happy and content with how you percieve yourself and how others percieve you, taking a moment just to make sure that all the ways you experience your life are in line with your deepest truth is a good idea. If you’ve never done any sort of gender exploration, just keep in mind that the Femdom Fridays Mistresses are perfectly placed and equipped to help you try all the new things and learn to embrace gender exploration!

Deconstructing Gender

Start by enjoying our Deconstructing Gender event with the Femdom Fridays Ladies. We all took a gender roles test, to see where we fell on the masculine/feminine spectrum in terms of traditional Western gender role expectations, and to the shock of no one at all, all the Mistresses wound up on the more ‘masculine’ side of the spectrum. Take a gender roles test for yourself, and see if the results are suprising, or exactly what you’d expect of yourself.

Gender Beyond the Binary

Gender can go a lot further than just an either/or strict binary between ‘man’ and ‘woman’. Agender folks, non-binary, genderfluid, genderflux, and more expressions of human behavior and gender are just out there, waiting to be explored and embraced. Once you’ve contemplated all the ways that you may be feminine or masculine, or both, or neither, you’re ready to start examining ways of being that transcend the limited expectations of traditional culture. The Femdom Fridays Mistresses can help you become more comfortable with gender expressions that transcend strict notions of ‘manly man’ vs ‘nurturing female’. The Zodiac Genders are one way to contemplate your gender expression, by aligning with the twelve signs of the Zodiac! And trust us, that’s scratching the bare surface of all the different ideas about gender out there!

Needlessly Gendered Scavenger Hunt

The Needlessly Gendered Scavenger Hunt featured a list of categories of items, and the participants had to go forth and find examples of those items that were gendered in needless ways. Imagine a pen marketed to women, that had no other added features beyond being superficially pink (not the ink, just the barrel of the pen), and yet it cost more than the not-gendered pen. Adding “for women” to items and tweaking just a superficial trait to make them seem more womanly, or manly, is an example of needlessly gendered marketing. Have you seen the Dove body wash marketed to men? It’s the same as the regular body wash, just in a black bottle. Silliness like that sort of deceptive and toxic marketing is something you should keep an eye on, just to make sure your desire to conform to gender stereotypes isn’t leading you to purchase the more expensive version of a needed product.
